TOPICS
Topics may be suggested by anyone involved with the contest and are selected at random. If a topic is to be considered for the next Round, it must be submitted before the Round begins. All unselected topics are carried over to the next Round. No topic will be used twice. Along with payment, topics may be submitted at the last minute—which is 2400hrs on the day a round begins.
READERS
Readers, bless them, are volunteers who are not entered in the Round as writers. They read the stories submitted for a given Round, and after due consideration designate their top three choices. 1st place receives 5 points. 2nd place receives 3 points. 3rd place receives 1 point. A story's accumulated points total as awarded by a Round's Reader Panel determines the winner of the Round.
REWARDS
It is the official position of Length vs. Girth that a written work should stand for itself, and that a writer should be read and not heard, let alone seen or advertised. For this reason all entries will be referred to by title alone and if a writer feels the need for gratification via personal promotion they do it on their own time. We will provide only financial compensation and a means for discrete indulgence in self-satisfaction.
PLAGIARISM
At Length vs. Girth, we are familiar with every printed work of fiction in the English language—original, translated or otherwise. So if you plagiarize you will be caught. When you are caught, your contact info and profile picture (if submitted) will be widely circulated. You will then be subject to printed abuse at a level of persistence and depravity completely unjustifiable by even the loosest moral standard.
Do not plagiarize people. You will not feel good about yourself.
